On Friday, November 16, 2007, singers and performers with multiple and severe developmental disabilities presented a remarkable evening of talent and determination.

The evening began at the Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Technology Center at Nova Southeastern University with the 5th Annual Art Exhibition entitled 'Earth's Echo," which featured 5 new collaborative pieces of art created from things found on our planet ranging from sand and tree branches to recycled materials.  In addition to these new pieces, the Ann Storck Center’s permanent collection of 25 original pieces of art was presented.  Each of artists was introduced to guests at a reception held during the exhibit.

Following the art reception, guests were escorted to the Alfred and Rose Miniaci Performing Arts Center, located next to the library, to enjoy “The Island,” the Center’s 7th Annual Expressive Arts Performance.  All of the 30 participants in the "The Island" program, including set designers, singers and performers live with multiple and severe developmental disabilities and are residents or program participants of the Ann Storck Center’s day program.   The evening was a celebration of abilities despite disabilities.
