Rock The Race Raises $ 18,000 For ASC
Two hundred racing fans, dressed to the nines, flocked Passion Night Club at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino for the 2nd Annual Rock The Race: A Kentucky Derby Bash, which was held on May 1st. The action packed event featured mint juleps, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and large flat screen TVs that displayed the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby.
Rock With U Entertainment provided guests with unparalleled entertainment and DJ services while WSFL-TV’s Morning Show Meteorologist Jeff Mielcarz emceed. Delicious delights were provided by Timpano Chophouse, Samba Room, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Fort Lauderdale Country Club, Lauderdale Grill, and Publix. Guests also enjoyed complimentary beverages provided by Budweiser, Stephen’s Distributing, Xanté, and Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.
A derby hat fashion show featuring one-of-a-kind derby hats designed by the Fashion Design Department of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale proved to be a highlight of the event as each hat was then auctioned off to the highest bidder. Additional silent auction items included original Ann Storck Center artwork and VIP experiences
Many guests came wearing their favorite derby hats. However, guests who come without a hat were able to create their own masterpiece with the onsite hat-making team.
Chaired by Susan Renneisen of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Alyssa Lovitt of Timpano Chophouse and Samba Room, and Kathy Keleher of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, the 2nd Annual Rock The Race: A Kentucky Derby Bash proved to be a great success in raising funds to benefit the Ann Storck Center’s programs and services. Members of the event committee included Debbie Barbuto, Debbie Batts, Elizabeth Cambareri, Rachel Charlupski, Stacey Copeland, Monica Correll, Debbie Day, Caroline Frank, Maureen Hodgson, Katie McCarthy, Barbara Ouvarov, Dawn Read, Lisa Scott-Founds and Arlene Wites.

year’s Rock The Race event far exceeded our expectations,” said Jim McGuire,
Executive Director. “Although Super Saver won
this year’s Kentucky Derby, the Ann Storck Center is the real winner here.”
