Michael Goodman Award

Awarded to Mr. Howard Boozer, Associate Director

by the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities on

October 3, 2002

The Ann Storck Center is pleased to announce that our very own Associate Director, Mr. Howard Boozer, has received the prestigious Michael Goodman Award for his outstanding leadership and long-standing commitment to service for people with developmental disabilities from the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities at their Annual Awards Luncheon in Orlando, Florida on October 3, 2002.

Mr. Boozer has demonstrated exceptional diligence and expertise in areas of System Design and Quality Assurance.  His Quality Assurance System has been recognized as exceptional by accreditation and other survey teams.  In fact, people have come from across the nation to speak with Mr. Boozer in an attempt to replicate the Center's multi-tiered Quality Assurance System within their own organizations.  Howard is also involved in the community through the Broward Alliance for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.  He has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the recognition of the incredible work of the Center's, and other facilities, direct care and direct support workers.  In this regard, Mr. Boozer has been responsible for, or contributed to, an annual conference dedicated for direct support staff in Broward County for over a decade.  The Center either has been the host or has significantly supported this event since its inception.  Mr. Boozer continues to be a catalyst of this exceptional learning and networking opportunity for perhaps the most important people in the industry.

Mr. Boozer is a mentor to the managers with whom he works, an advocate for the over 300 children and adults he serves, and is tenacious and preservative about the exceptional standards for the Center's Program Service Delivery System.  Congratulations to Mr. Boozer!  He is an essential part of our family and we look forward to his future contributions and accomplishments on behalf of those he serves.

by the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities on

Ms. Ignatoff is the personification of the Ann Storck Center’s commitment to excellence and its advocacy on behalf of those served.  As a leader within the Ann Storck Center, Ms. Ignatoff plays a major role in establishing the expectations within the organization.  Ms. Ignatoff comes from a 25 year history of service to the Ann Storck Center.  She has been a direct care professional, supervisor, manager, and now leader within the organization.  However, Kelly has always been an ardent advocate for those served.  Her leadership and advocacy is evident in her integrated practices, the inclusionary opportunities that she offers those served, and her intimate experience as a mentor, coach, friend, and advocate to the children and adults of this organization.

The innovative practices initiated by Ms. Ignatoff throughout the Center are evident in the Center’s Gizmo House, in the Center’s ICP (Individual Centered Plan) process, and in including self initiated power point presentations by the individual at their annual planning meeting.  She is a person who supports the wishes, desires, and needs of those served through her professional responsibilities and her personal considerations.  Her legacy of excellence at the Ann Storck Center includes three recent consecutive years of perfect surveys from AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) for the Center’s ICF/MR DD Programs, ten years of perfect surveys by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities for the Center’s Group Homes, and major participation in the Center’s accreditation surveys from CARF… the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission which have resulted in accreditation with commendation since 1993.

Ms. Ignatoff is a tireless advocate for those served.  She has provided essential testimony in Department of Administrative Hearings resulting in affirmative opinions protecting the services and programs so necessary to those she serves.  She meets the stated goals and objectives of this organization through her relationships with the staff at the Ann Storck Center and her commitment to caring for the children and adults of this organization.

Inherent in her personal style of leadership and management is her open and honest communication between the Center’s management team, its direct support professionals, and those served.  Ms. Ignatoff believes in moving the target of excellence so that this organization evolves as a qualitative service provider.  She leads by example, and most importantly, she is an authentic, caring person who has earned the respect and confidence of those who are privileged to work with her.  Kelly Ignatoff personifies what the Michael Goodman Award is all about.
