Volunteer hours
and Internship programs are available with the Recreation and Music Therapy
Arts in Motion Department. Each program is available for high school and
college student volunteers with approval from a n accredited program.
Each student will have to attend a volunteer orientation through the
Recreation and Music Therapy Department (other application processes may
apply). The following programs and hours are available:
C.A.R.E
This program
is available on Wednesdays 3:00 - 5:00 pm during the school year. This
program allows volunteers to work with individual Participants on a weekly
basis.
Special
Events
Each month
volunteers with with the recreation team to participate in preparing and
leading special event parties, on weekends and holiday events.
Agency Field
Days
This is an
annual event for Preschool and Residential Participants to enjoy and have fun
playing games and activities for the entire day.
DTP Leisure
Time
This program
is available Monday through Friday 1:00 - 2:30 pm working with individuals in
a small group daily recreation and creative arts classes.
Residential
Leisure Time
A daily
recreational program in the residential group homes working with small groups
and individuals from 3:30 - 5:00 Monday through Friday.
Internships,
Practicum, and Field Work Experience
Recreation and
Music Therapy internships, practicum and field work hours are available to
college students to work with Certified Therapists. Community service
hours are also available for students enrolled in specialized programs such as
special education, speech, physical, and occupational therapies.
