LEAD COOK

The Lead Cook is to prepare, cook and serve food as instructed by the Nutrition Services Director and Supervisor in accordance with defined standards and quality, working within USDA guidelines regarding current health safety and hygiene legislation and Ann Storck’s health and safety policy, with the aim of achieving high standards of customer care and good quality.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Following the supervisor’s instructions, prepares food according to standardized recipes or package instructions, and ensures food safety.

  • Ensures that food quality is obtained and maintained.

  • Record food temperatures.

  • Prepares correct textures/consistencies.

  • Maintains the nutritional value of the food.

  • Assures palatable and tasty meals.

  • Cleans and sanitizes all working areas and kitchen equipment according to daily/weekend cleaning assignments.

  • Uses appropriate cleaning and sanitizing agents in a safe manner on all work surfaces and floors.

  • Follows all rules and regulations for food serving procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.

 

Shift: 6 am - 2 pm (5 days a week)

Minimum Requirements & Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Two - Three plus years’ experience as a cook in commercial kitchens, long term care, or intellectual disabilities organization

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English

  • Must be detail-oriented and thorough with the ability to work quickly and efficiently and adapt quickly to unexpected changes.

  • Must pass a Level II background check, a pre-employment physical and a drug screen and PPD

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (read, write, and speak) with employees, peers, supervisors, program participants, and others.

  • Ability to follow recipes and other instructions.

  • Effective problem-solving, reasoning, and critical thinking skills.

  • ServSafe Certification preferred.

 

Working Conditions: Standard kitchen style work environment 

 

Pay: From $12.00 - $14.00/hr

dietary aide / COOK

The Dietary Aide / Cook is responsible for preparing Dinner as instructed by the Nutrition Services Director and Supervisor in accordance with defined standards and quality, working within USDA guidelines regarding current health safety and hygiene legislation and ASC’s health and safety policy, with the aim of achieving high standards of customer care and good quality. The Dietary Aide/PM Cook works on the tray line to verify all pre-plated meals are served accurately according to diet order guidelines and portion sizes.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Following the supervisor’s instructions, prepares food according to standardized recipes or package instructions, and ensures food safety.

  • Ensures that food quality is obtained and maintained.

  • Prepares all nourishments and snacks according to diet orders and Dietitian’s guidelines.

  • Labels all special nourishments with individual’s name, date, and serving times).

  • Maintains proper hygiene and work habits including kitchen sanitation and food safety.
