Cook/Dietary Aide

The Cook/Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing all daily menus and special diet foods, and the preparation of pre-plated meals based on procedures. Prepares meals and snacks according to diet orders, pre-plated guidelines, and portion size requirements.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures that food quality is obtained and maintained.

  • Record food temperatures.

  • Prepares correct textures/consistencies.

  • Maintains the nutritional value of the food.

  • Assures palatable and tasty meals.

  • Cleans and sanitizes all working areas and kitchen equipment according to daily/weekend cleaning assignments.

  • Uses appropriate cleaning and sanitizing agents in a safe manner on all work surfaces and floors.

  • Follows all rules and regulations for food serving procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English

  • Must pass a Level II background check, a pre-employment physical and a drug screen and PPD

  • One to three-plus years’ experience in commercial kitchens, long term care, or intellectual disabilities organization

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (read, write, and speak) with employees, peers, supervisors, program participants, and others.

  • Ability to follow recipes and other instructions.

  • Must be detail-oriented and thorough with the ability to work quickly and efficiently and adapt quickly to unexpected changes.

  • Effective problem-solving, reasoning, and critical thinking skills.

  • ServSafe Certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: starting $14.00 per hour (increase after probationary period)
