our mission

our story

Ann Storck Center is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. The mission throughout all our programs and services is to discover ability and build independence so that our individuals live happier, more independent, fulfilling lives.

This takes a whole lot of heart – from our dedicated staff and amazing families to our outstanding leadership, loyal partners, generous supporters and most of all –

the children and adults we serve daily.

.... speaks beautifully to advancement of mission, sustained purpose and profound impact. It originates in 1951, when pediatric nurse Ann Storck retired to South Florida to open her heart and home to a handful of disregarded children with developmental disabilities. Four years later, she opened the Pediatric Care Center to serve 55 children. The Pediatric Care Center evolved into Ann Storck Center in 1981.

Today the Center accommodates 96 permanent residents and serves more than 300 clients daily through

an array of critical care, learning and ability focused programs across two distinct campuses in

Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines. We are the oldest non-profit in Broward County

to serve this vulnerable population.

Ann Storck Center is more than a place to care for and assist individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities in their discovery of ability and building independence. It is a thriving community. Its talents, resources and programs encompass a broad spectrum of residential, educational, nutritional, therapeutic, artistic, transportation and critical care services.  Beneficiaries are derived from low to extremely low income situations, span the newborn to elderly population and are incredibly diverse.

Specializing in one-on-one engagement that is prescriptive and individualized, we devise ground-breaking, life-changing, award-winning programs that influence the entire landscape for those living with disabilities, as well as their able-bodied, able-minded counterparts. Such innovations have earned national merit and recognition and are impressive and inspiring from any perspective. We encourage and foster a robust and diverse support network including staff advocates, parents, guardians, teachers, therapists, donors and community partners who assert to design the most inspired programming imaginable to promote the highest level of independence possible. The outstanding end result… our beloved beneficiaries are free to express and exercise choice, a hallmark of our methodology and approach in caring for this population.

They are happy and whole. This is where we shine.

The Center boasts nearly 300 dedicated employees, a majority of whom have been with the organization 20 plus years. We hold this up as the greatest testament to our lasting impact on the community

and the lives of those we serve.
